Roman Blinds FAQ

Expert details on Roman fold structures, thermal linings, rear cord alignment safety, and initial installation guidelines.

A classic folding window treatment stacks upward into elegant, clean horizontal pleats when raised, adding dramatic texture and a soft drapery feel to the room. A standard rolling Screen or basic window Blinds roll tightly around a concealed top tube, offering a minimalist profile that stays completely out of the way.
Choosing a heavy-weave canvas or lined fabric material ensures your window treatment traps indoor air effectively for maximum climate control. If you love the soft aesthetic of a cascading fabric Shade but still want to see outside during the afternoon, we recommend installing a sheer material, or pairing it with a separate transparent solar Screen.
Our cascading fabric treatments utilize rear lift cords sewn safely into the back of the material panels to control the fold sequence. To guarantee a clean look from the street, these components are fully aligned behind the fabric panel, and can be paired with an exterior protective Screen or a matching set of window Blinds.
Yes, a folding fabric Shade can be mounted inside the window casing, provided there is enough depth to clear the window hardware. For very shallow casings where fabric folds might rub against the glass, an outside mount over the architrave is preferred, which is also standard practice for heavy horizontal Blinds or a solar Screen framework.
It is completely normal for a newly unboxed fabric Shade to show minor creases. Hanging the treatment fully lowered allows natural room humidity to drop the wrinkles out over a few days; for stubborn creases, gently steam the panels while avoiding contact with nearby window Blinds or any adjacent solar Screen mesh.
